An absolute eosinophil count (AEC) is a blood test that measures the number of eosinophils in a sample of blood. Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that help protect the body from allergens, parasites, and other foreign organisms. A normal AEC is between 30 and 350 cells per microliter of blood.
