CA- 125 (Ovarian Cancer Marker)

CA-125 (Cancer Antigen 125) is a protein found on the surface of many ovarian cancer cells and released into the bloodstream. This test is primarily used to monitor patients already diagnosed with ovarian cancer, helping evaluate disease progression, response to treatment, and recurrence. Elevated CA-125 levels may also be seen in benign conditions such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, menstruation, pregnancy, liver disease, and other cancers. Therefore, CA-125 is not recommended as a screening test for ovarian cancer in the general population and should always be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings, imaging studies, and other investigations.
