Culture and Sensitivity- Fluid (Pleural, Peritoneal, Synovial)

Peritoneal fluid culture is a laboratory test performed on a sample of peritoneal fluid. It is done to detect bacteria or fungi that cause infection (peritonitis). Peritoneal fluid is the fluid in the peritoneal cavity, a space between the wall of the abdomen and the organs inside.

Culture and Sensitivity testing of Synovial Fluid is a diagnostic laboratory test performed to detect bacterial infections in the joints. Synovial fluid is a viscous liquid found in the cavities of synovial joints, which is the moving joints like knees and shoulders.

Pleural fluid culture is a test that examines a sample of fluid that has been collected in the pleural space to see if you have an infection to help understand the cause of the buildup of fluid in this space.
