Culture & Sensitivity (Semen) is a microbiological test used to isolate and identify pathogenic bacteria present in semen that may cause male genital tract infections. These infections can affect the prostate, seminal vesicles, epididymis, or testes and may contribute to symptoms such as pain, burning during urination, abnormal semen parameters, or male infertility.
The semen sample is cultured on appropriate media to allow bacterial growth. If organisms are detected, antibiotic susceptibility testing is performed to determine the most effective antibiotics. This test is especially useful in cases of infertility evaluation, chronic prostatitis, recurrent genital infections, or abnormal semen analysis.
