Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) 5 Sample

The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) – 5 Sample is a dynamic blood test used to assess glucose metabolism and insulin response. After an overnight fast, a baseline blood sample is collected. The patient then consumes a measured oral glucose solution, followed by four additional blood samples at fixed time intervals (commonly 30 min, 1 hr, 2 hrs, and 3 hrs or as per protocol).

This multi-sample approach helps identify impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, gestational diabetes, and early-stage diabetes mellitus that may not be detected by fasting or random glucose tests alone. The test is especially valuable in pregnancy and in patients with borderline blood sugar values.
