Hepatitis B Profile

The Hepatitis B Profile Test provides a wide array of results through a blood sample, allowing health professionals an understanding of if the person has an active infection, a previous infection, or if they are immune, or if they are having liver problems related to liver disease.

The test will be ordered for any individual who has been having related symptoms (for example, fatigue, yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice), pain in the abdomen, nausea, or an unknown liver abnormality) as well as for all women during pregnancy, all healthcare workers, and all individuals that have had blood transfusions or are at the highest risk of being exposed to the virus.

What does the Hepatitis B Profile Test include?

The test typically evaluates key Hepatitis B markers such as:

• HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen)
• Anti-HBs (Hepatitis B Surface Antibody)
• Anti-HBc (Total/Core Antibody)
• IgM Anti-HBc (Acute infection marker)
• HBeAg and Anti-HBe (Infectivity and disease activity markers)
