HIV I & II Serology

HIV I & II Serology is a screening blood test that detects antibodies produced in response to Human Immunodeficiency Virus types 1 and 2. These antibodies usually develop a few weeks after exposure to the virus. The test is widely used for early screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of HIV infection in asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals. It is commonly recommended for individuals with high-risk exposure, pre-surgical screening, antenatal care, blood donation screening, and routine health checkups. A reactive result requires confirmation with supplemental or confirmatory tests as per national guidelines. Early detection helps initiate timely treatment and prevent disease transmission.
