HLA-B27 (PCR)

HLA-B27 (PCR) is a molecular diagnostic test that detects the presence of the HLA-B27 gene using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. Unlike antigen-based methods, PCR identifies the genetic sequence responsible for HLA-B27 expression, offering high specificity and accuracy. The presence of the HLA-B27 gene is associated with an increased risk of spondyloarthropathies such as ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, and certain autoimmune uveitis conditions. This test is especially useful in cases with inconclusive serological results. PCR-based HLA-B27 testing supports early diagnosis, risk assessment, and effective clinical management.
