HSV-1&2 IgM Antibodies

HSV-1 & 2 IgM Antibodies is a serological blood test that detects IgM antibodies produced during the early phase of Herpes Simplex Virus infection. The presence of IgM antibodies suggests a recent or primary infection with HSV type 1 or type 2. This test is commonly recommended for patients with symptoms such as oral or genital blisters, sores, fever, or unexplained ulcers. It may also be used in cases of suspected recent exposure. HSV IgM testing is often interpreted along with HSV IgG antibodies to differentiate between recent infection and past exposure, supporting accurate diagnosis and clinical management.
