TYPHIDOT Rapid IgG/IgM (Combo) is an immunochromatographic assay designed for the qualitative detection and differentiation of specific IgM and IgG antibodies against specific Salmonella typhi OMP antigen in human serum or plasma. It is intended to be used as in vitro diagnostic of typhoid fever.
typhi antigen thus aiding in the determination of current or previous exposure to S. typhi. IgM positive or IgM /IgG both positive suggest current infection, while IgG positive suggests late stage of infection, or previous infection, or latent infection.
In the context of the Widal test for typhoid fever, a titer of 1:160 or higher for either the O or H antigens is generally considered a positive result, indicating a current or recent infection.
