ASMA (Anti Smooth Muscle Antibody)

The ASMA (Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibody) test is a blood test that detects antibodies against smooth muscle cells, particularly in the liver. These antibodies are produced by the body's immune system and mistakenly attack its own tissues. The ASMA test is used to diagnose and monitor autoimmune conditions like autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
