Immunoglobulin- A (IgA)

Immunoglobulin-A (IgA) is an antibody that plays a key role in mucosal immunity and is primarily found in blood, saliva, tears, and other body secretions. The IgA test measures the concentration of this antibody in the blood to assess immune system function. Abnormal IgA levels may be associated with recurrent infections, autoimmune disorders, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or multiple myeloma. Low IgA levels can indicate IgA deficiency, while elevated levels may suggest chronic infection or immune activation. This test is commonly recommended for patients with frequent infections or suspected immune disorders.
