Lipid profile
A lipid profile, also known as a lipid panel or cholesterol test, is a blood test that measures the amount of fat in your blood. It can help determine your risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases.
A high lipid profile, meaning elevated levels of fats (cholesterol and triglycerides) in the blood, increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other serious health problems by causing fat buildup in artery walls, potentially leading to blockages and reduced blood flow.
Your HDL (“good” cholesterol) is the one number you want to be high (ideally above 60). Your LDL (“bad” cholesterol) should be below 100. Your total should be below 200. Talk with your provider about what your results mean for you and how to manage your cholesterol.
